About Reiki

What is Reiki?

Oriental theory believes that there is more to the living body than blood, bone and muscle. This substance is described as the Japanese Ki, similar to the Chinese “Qi,” “Prana” in India or “Spirit” in the West. Reiki is best translated as Universal Life-Force Energy.  Reiki uses a light touch or, if there is injury, the hands may be held above the body.  With Reiki the practitioner is a conduit.  Therefore, the person receiving Reiki is simply having his or her own healing potential increased.

Preparing for Session...

Eat lightly.
  The blood sugar and metabolic function often drop during Shiatsu or Reiki.

Stay Hydrated.  Circulation may speed up Causing excess fluids to drain into the stomach and kidneys.

Wear loose, non-binding cotton clothing such as exercise wear. Jeans and regular pants are okay but may cause difficulty or discomfort when the limbs are rotated.
